A previously cancelled match will be played again in IPL 2025. Because of the rescheduled second leg, Punjab Kings against Delhi Capitals is now Match No. 66 rather than Match No. 58. This match, which was originally scheduled as a home game for PBKS, will instead be played at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Punjab Kings have already qualified for the playoffs and will see this encounter as an opportunity to move up to the top two. Their most recent game was against RR at this same stadium. Tushar Deshpande kept PBKS on the back foot on the powerplay, but Nehal Wadhera and Shreyas Iyer formed an essential partnership. Shashank Singh eventually propelled Punjab’s incredible start to a record total.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi began with a bang, scoring 76 runs in just 5 overs. However, Harpreet Brar’s three-wicket spell stymied RR in the middle overs. Dhruv Jurel gave it his all to get RR over the finish line, but they fell short once more.
In contrast, the Delhi Capitals were eliminated from the IPL 2025 after losing to the Mumbai Indians. Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks started at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, but Suryakumar Yadav rose to the occasion. Yadav formed a crucial alliance with Tilak Varma, and then with Naman Dhir. MI’s recovery from an unremarkable start was aided by a death overs explosion in which they scored 48 runs in the final two overs.
However, DC’s pursuit failed spectacularly. They lost three wickets in the powerplay, and despite Vipraj Nigam’s determined performance with the bat, it was insufficient. Mitchell Santner and Jasprit Bumrah got three wickets each to totally shut down MI’s lower middle order and advance them to the playoffs.
The two teams previously met in the tournament at Dharamsala, but that game is now null and void, with no records being kept. After Punjab scored 122 in just 10 overs thanks to fifties from Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya, the game was abandoned due to security concerns. The competition was suspended less than 24 hours later.
