Virat Kohli, India’s modern-day great, announced his retirement from Test cricket during the IPL 2025 season after a week-long suspension owing to cross-border hostilities between India and Pakistan. Kohli, India’s most-followed public personality with 274 million Instagram followers, has remained a private person and has chosen a quieter life throughout this stage of his career. In recent years, he has kept a modest profile on social media. Meanwhile, fans have been wondering what Virat is doing now.
What is Virat Kohli doing now?
Kohli currently resides in Notting Hill, London, with his wife Anushka Sharma and their two children, Vamika and Akaay. According to The Telegraph, Kohli enjoys his life in London and is often seen shopping, attending cafes, and taking the Tube like any other average person. The parents, who have consistently demanded privacy for their children, continues to keep Vamika and Akaay out of the public eye and social media.
Notably, ahead of the five-match Test series against England, the Delhi native hosted a special dinner at his London home. The meal was attended by Shubman Gill, India’s current Test captain, Rishabh Pant, Mohammed Siraj, and a few other Indian squad players.
Virat Kohli eventually won the IPL title with RCB.
The just concluded IPL 2025 was a proud moment for Virat Kohli. After 18 seasons, he finally grabbed the IPL trophy when Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the tournament. Kohli made 657 runs this season, including eight fifties, and played a key part in RCB’s victory. He was his team’s leading scorer in the Finals against the Punjab Kings, scoring 43 runs. Following the win, the 36-year-old burst into tears and expressed his joy.
“This squad made the fantasy a reality, and I will never forget this season. Over the last 2.5 months, we have greatly enjoyed the voyage. This one is for the RCB fans who have never abandoned us even in our darkest moments. This one is for all those years of pain and disappointment. This is for every ounce of effort put forth on the pitch while representing this team. As for the IPL trophy, you’ve made me wait 18 years to be able to raise you and rejoice my friend, but it’s been well worth the wait,” Kohli wrote on Instagram.
When will Virat Kohli next play for India?
While Kohli has retired from Tests and T20Is, with the latter following the 2024 T20 World Cup, he is set to return to international cricket in August for India’s ODI series of Bangladesh, which begins on August 17. Apart from the Bangladesh tour, India is set to play Australia, South Africa, and the West Indies later this year.
