Two Indian-origin cricketers, Aryan Sharma and Yash Deshmukh, have been picked to Australia U19’s side against India U19 for the multi-format home series later in the year.

The series is planned to premiere on September 21.

Sharma is a batter from Victoria. Deshmukh, an all-rounder, is one of five New South Wales cricketers selected for the squad. Tim Nielsen, the former Australian head coach, will train the youth. The forthcoming assignment will be Nielsen’s first with the U19 team. He previously managed the senior men’s national team from 2007 to 2011, which was a moment of change as Matthew Hayden, Adam Gilchrist, and Glenn McGrath retired.

Speaking about the tour program, the forthcoming assignment will begin with three 50-over matches on September 21, 24, and 26 at Brisbane’s Ian Healy Oval. The white-ball assignment will be followed by two four-day matches in Brisbane, from September 30 to October 3, and in Mackay, from October 7 to 10.

Cricket Australia’s Head of National Development Sonya Thompson expressed CA’s collective excitement for Nielsen’s integration within the U19 system.

“We’re also thrilled to welcome Tim Nielsen as head coach of the national U19 squad. His extensive international experience and leadership will be instrumental in guiding and inspiring Australia’s next generation of cricketers,” stated Thompson in a release on Friday.

The upcoming series has been designed as part of CA’s long-term player development strategy. The main aim behind this is providing young players with top-notch international exposure in both white-ball and red-ball formats to prepare them for the future. Apart from the fifteen named, three additional names will be taking part as standbys.
