Mushfiqur Rahim, an ace Bangladeshi batsman, passed MS Dhoni and Inzamam-ul-Haq on two consecutive occasions while batting in the second Test of the two-match series against Sri Lanka. On Wednesday, June 25, the seasoned cricketer reached a significant milestone at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo.
During his 35-run knock, Mushfiqur Rahim surpassed Dhoni and Inzamam in terms of international runs and Test runs against Sri Lanka.
This was the 38-year-old’s 180th Test innings during his stellar red-ball international career.

Sonal Dinusha, a debutant, dismissed him on the penultimate ball of the innings’ 54th over. He holed out in the deep with a slog-sweep, which was safely caught by the fielder at the deep square-leg fence. Mushfiqur’s knock consisted of five boundaries.
Bangladesh finished on 220/8 in 71 overs at Stumps at the end of Day 1. Shadman Islam (46 off 93) was the visitors’ leading scorer. Apart from Mushfiqur, two more batsmen were dismissed in the 30s: Litton Das (34 off 56) and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (31 off 42).
The Sri Lankan bowling team put forth a solid performance throughout. Asitha Fernando (2/43 in 14 overs), Vishwa Fernando (2/35 in 16 overs), and Dinusha (2/22 in 9 overs) shared six wickets. Tharindu Ratnayake and skipper Dhananjaya de Silva each took one wicket.
