Rohit Sharma, one of India’s most successful captains, recently announced his retirement from Test cricket, after his retirement from Twenty20 Internationals after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup. Rohit will now exclusively captain India in ODIs after winning two big ICC trophies in less than a year (T20 World Cup 2024 and Champions Trophy 2025). However, following his Test retirement declaration and the conclusion of IPL 2025, many people are wondering where Rohit is these days.
What is Rohit Sharma doing now?
The 38-year-old is now on holiday at Jumeirah Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi (UAE) with his wife Ritika Sajdeh and their two daughters, Samaira and Ayaan. The cricketer has been active on Instagram regarding his trip. In one of the photos, Rohit and Ritika were playing Jenga and spending time at the beach with their children. The pair was previously seen at Mumbai airport with their children before departing.

The duo also appeared on the first episode of former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh and his wife Geeta Basra’s new YouTube discussion show “Who’s The Boss”. The show follows the off-field lives of cricketers and their partners. Both of them related previously untold experiences from their separate jobs, and the opener also described his beautiful marriage proposal to his wife.
Rohit Sharma celebrates 18 years in international cricket
Meanwhile, Rohit recently celebrated his 18th anniversary in international cricket and reflected on his debut on June 23, 2007, against Ireland. Remembering the day, he posted a picture of his Indian helmet and captioned it, “Forever grateful, 23.06.07.”
When will Rohit Sharma play next for India?
The Nagpur-born might have hung his boots from T20Is and Tests, but he will be seen in the 50-over format. In 273 ODIs, he has scored over 11,000 runs at an average of 48.76, including 32 centuries and three double tons. He will now lead the Men in Blue in the upcoming tour of Bangladesh starting August 17, 2025, which includes three ODIs and three T20Is (though Rohit will only feature in ODIs).
His IPL 2025 campaign with the Mumbai Indians was also impressive as he hammered 418 runs in 15 matches at a strike rate of 149.28 and an average of nearly 30. However, MI’s campaign ended after a defeat in Qualifier 2 against Punjab Kings.
