The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will play their final game of the season against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Sunday, May 25 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Though the Yellow Brigade’s season has come to a close, fans are still curious about CSK superstar MS Dhoni’s future in the tournament.

The renowned wicketkeeper-batsman has yet to make an official decision on his future, but has declared that he will use the next eight months to determine whether he will be ready for the following year. During the pre-match news conference, CSK’s assistant coach Sridharan Sriram was asked about the future of the five-time IPL winning skipper. However, the former India cricketer has stated that he is ignorant of his retirement plans, and that head coach Stephen Fleming, Dhoni, and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad have a clear vision for the team’s future.

“Not as much as I know. I’m not sure what’s going to happen, but I think Fleming and MS, Ruturaj, are the bright spots. They clearly understand what went wrong and what needs to be done. So I believe the route forward is fairly clear, which is a huge plus,” Sriram said.

Sriram also remarked on the franchise’s terrible season, which has landed them at the bottom of the table. The 49-year-old former batting all-rounder issued a straightforward statement acknowledging that the season did not go as planned and that it was unreasonable to place responsibility on any one factor.

“Everyone understands that the season has not gone as planned. It’s not only about the middle order; it’s about how we’ve played throughout the year and how the results have turned out. So it’s unfair to pin the blame on any one individual thing,” Sriram remarked.
