Eight Associate Members (AMs) are vying for three open slots on the International Cricket Council’s Chief Executives’ Committee (CEC). The election will take place on July 17, the first day of
The ICC Annual Conference, which is slated to take place in Singapore from July 17 to 20.
Candidates include Anuraag Bhatnagar of Hong Kong, Tim Cutler of Vanuatu, Sarah Gomersall of Jersey, Gurdeep Klair of Canada, Palani Gurumurthy of France, Sankar Renganathan of Sierra Leone, and Stella Vaea Tagitau of Samoa, as well as the incumbent Sumod Damodar of Botswana.
Two additional incumbents, Rashpal Bajwa of Canada and Umair Butt of Denmark, have opted out of the election. Each elected member will have a two-year term. 45 Associate Members are allowed to vote, with each voter needing to vote for three candidates based on their preferences.
“The nominees for the CEC are worthy opponents in their own right, notwithstanding the fact that two incumbents do not appear. As the lone incumbent in the campaign and having previously served on the CEC, I really believe that my credentials and expertise will garner the necessary support to accomplish the desired beneficial conclusion,” Damodar stated, as quoted by.
“I have always believed that representation at any level necessitates clear neutrality and a complete commitment to serving without bias. The diversity among Associate Members creates a stimulating environment, and initiatives to link people from all over the world present excellent challenges. I hope to continue my efforts to express the AMs’ concerns and needs if given the opportunity,” Damodar added.
