Ratnagiri Jets have opened their account in the ongoing Maharashtra Premier League (MPL) 2025 with a much-needed victory over Satara Warriors in the season’s seventh match, played on June 8 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Coming off three consecutive losses, the Jets made a clinical comeback with a five-wicket victory.
After winning the toss, Ratnagiri Jets decided to bowl first.
Their bowlers made an early impact, taking two quick wickets in the opening two overs. Pradeep Dadhe was the wrecker-in-chief with the ball, taking three wickets in his four overs. Om Bhosale, Satara’s wicketkeeper-batsman, attempted to steady the innings with 43 off 21 balls, including six boundaries and two sixes.
Captain Saurabh Nawale and Harshal Kate scored 22 and 35 runs, respectively, while Aniket Porwal stayed undefeated on 25. Aside from Dhade, Ratnagiri’s Satyajeet Bachhav, Sahil Churi, Divyang Hinganekar, and Vijay Pawale each grabbed one wicket. The Warriors eventually scored 159 for 8 in their 20 overs.
In response, Ratnagiri openers Dhiraj Phatangare and Atharva Dharmadhikari put on a 33-run stand before both fell in the first five overs. Joe Ruebenson Pardesi and captain Azim Kazi then formed a match-winning partnership. Pardesi scored 22 before being removed, but it was Kazi who ensured his team over the line. The southpaw scored an undefeated 62 from 42 balls, with six boundaries and three sixes.
Despite losing Kiran Chormale and Abhishek Pawar in the middle overs, Kazi managed to hold on. The Jets eventually chased down the goal with two overs remaining, finishing on 160 for 5 in 18 overs. Shamshuzama Kazi was Satara’s best bowler, with two wickets. Ratnagiri Jets earned their first win of the season and now have one win from four games, while Satara Warriors, who have lost all three matches, remain at the bottom of the standings.
