Rashid Khan, the talismanic leg-spinner for the Gujarat Titans (GT), went for 25 runs in his first over against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, May 22.
Shubman Gill brought Rashid into the bowling attack in the 12th over, with Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran at the crease. The Australian all-rounder was batting on 59 off 40 balls, while Pooran had just faced two and scored seven runs.
Rashid began his spell with a half-tracker, which a well-prepared Marsh easily deposited over cow corner. The next delivery went for a boundary, as he cut a googly past the cover fielder.
The Afghanistan stalwart adjusted his length and tossed a full length delivery. Marsh, on the other hand, swung his bat forcefully and rocketed it over long-off. The ball came off the toe-end, but Marsh is known as ‘Bison’ for a reason. Rashid missed the following two deliveries, and both went to the fence on the on-side. Marsh scored a single off the final delivery of the over, taking his total to 84 from 46 balls.

Marsh brought up his maiden IPL century off just 56 balls. He hit 10 fours and six sixes in the innings. The 33-year-old got to the landmark in the 17th over, taking a single off Arshad Khan’s second over.
Meanwhile, Nicholas Pooran also played a blinder of an innings to support Marsh as they look to end a four-match losing streak.
