Najam Sethi, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), recently spoke out on the nation’s plans to replace star batter Babar Azam as captain. The interim selection committee was just established. Shahid Afridi, a former Pakistan cricketer, served as the chairman of the interim selection committee.
Najam Sethi remarked on the fact that there were rumors of a desire to replace Babar as captain before the committee was chosen, and this was before Pakistan’s home series against New Zealand.
“When we took over, we established a temporary selection committee. They informed us that some changes would need to be made and that Babar should be changed as captain before the selectors boarded. “In a video posted to Waheed Khan’s YouTube account, Najam Sethi added.
“But, as soon as they were hired, they declared that Babar did not require replacement. You have the right to change your mind, I informed them.
Babar will continue to serve as captain as long as he is a successful hitter and captain: Najam Sethi
Sethi carried on with the same in the video. He believed that Babar, 28, will continue to lead Pakistan’s national team as long as he was successful and continued to win games for his country. Without a question, Babar is one of the best batters in the world right now, and Pakistan has prospered under his leadership.
“Babar will continue to serve as captain as long as he performs well both as a batsman and a captain. People would start doubting your leadership and other attributes if you kept losing series, “explained Sethi.
In addition, the PCB president used Twitter to dispel rumors about Babar’s captaincy. He tweeted, “Today, Babar Azam visited me. I informed him that against New Zealand, he would captain both the ODI and T20 national teams. The Real PCB then revealed the teams. Hence, everyone who disseminated false fears has lost their jobs as of today.”
