In an effort to secure a position in the 2023 Ashes, which will start on June 16, fast bowler Lance Morris of Western Australia will join his state captain Sam Whiteman at Northamptonshire County Cricket Club this winter. Before Australia’s journey to England, he will play three games for the club. Significantly, he won back-to-back Sheffield Shield championships, which aided in his eligibility for the national Test match.
Chris Tremain has also agreed to a short-term contract with Northamptonshire, joining Morris. According to the county cricket club, Tremain will join the team for the first three games of the season before Morris takes over for three games in May.
Morris admitted he didn’t anticipate being in Test contention while making a transition to the West Australian during the just finished Sheffield Shield. Before spending the remainder of his national call-up with the Australian team during the four-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in India, the 25-year-old bowler was a last-minute replacement in Adelaide.
Lance Morris declared that he was excited to play for Northamptonshire after signing with them. He said that he was thrilled about the new chance and hoped that by joining the club, he would help it succeed.
“I’m considering working for the county as well, just to keep myself active and be available when needed. I’m incredibly excited to leave the UK and play a few games with Northamptonshire “According to Morris’ statement,.
“County cricket is something you hear a lot about, so I’m looking forward to a fresh experience. It will be fantastic to connect with Sam as well, and maybe, while I’m there, I can contribute to the team’s successs.”.
With Western Australia during the summer, Morris got 31 wickets in six games. For the first time in 24 years, Western Australia was able to win back-to-back titles because of his efforts.
