Former Indian cricket player Harbhajan Singh made a comment on Indian cricket fans by drawing comparisons to the great MS Dhoni. On social media, the comparison descended into a full-scale conflict between Dhoni and Virat Kohli supporters.
In a show, the right-arm spinner claimed that only Dhoni had true fans, labelling all other cricket players’ supporters as paid or social media followers, regardless of how many followers they had on various platforms. Fans of Kohli were offended by the off-spinner’s remark because they believed Harbhajan was making a subtle jab at him and his supporters, which sparked a fan war.
Kohli’s supporters ridiculed the wicketkeeper-batter on X (previously Twitter) with the post “Shame on Deshdrohi Dhoni.”
Dhoni’s supporters responded with “#NationalShameKohli,” highlighting Kohli in reference to the rumours that he was playing for Middlesex, an English county team. As there has been no official update on Kohli’s county stay, it is noteworthy that the accusations are unsubstantiated and probably false.

On May 17, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) supporters gathered at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to honour the Indian cricket hero following his retirement from Test matches. As a tribute to the Delhi-born cricketer’s accomplishments to the nation in the red-ball format, the fervent supporters donned India’s Test jersey with Kohli’s name.
The Indian Premier League’s (IPL) grand stage was chosen by the supporters to commemorate Kohli’s accomplishments because the right-handed batsman helped India reach new heights in the Test format. A key figure in the RCB’s path, the former captain amassed 9230 runs in the game’s longest format.
The ongoing rains in Bengaluru caused the match between the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to be cancelled. The defending champions were eliminated from the IPL 2025 as KKR finished with 12 points.
With 17 points following the postponed match, RCB gained one point and took the lead in the standings, while CSK, led by MS Dhoni, was the first team to be formally eliminated from the tournament.
