Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) owner Vijay Mallya expressed great grief for the horrific stampede event that occurred near the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on June 4, killing multiple people. The incident occurred amid celebrations after RCB won their first Indian Premier League (IPL) title, breaking a 17-year wait.

Mallya added that it was painful to witness a pleasant occasion turn into tragedy. He also expressed his sympathies to the victims’ families, and he was astounded by the large crowd that had congregated near the Chinnaswamy Stadium to celebrate victory.

“It is terribly regrettable that many who came out to celebrate did not return home. It is tragic that individuals who come to celebrate such a wonderful event were confronted with sorrow. I’ve conveyed my heartfelt sympathies to all of the afflicted families. “I was amazed watching it on television; the number of people was just unimaginable,” Mallya added.

Mallya also stated that he would refrain from commenting extensively on the occurrence because he did not fully understand the circumstances around it. However, he agreed that the entire city of Bengaluru was in a festive atmosphere following RCB’s historic victory, and it was terribly regrettable that such a fatal occurrence occurred during what should have been a joyous occasion.

“I will not remark on why this tragic situation occurred because I do not know enough. It would be unfair of me to make any comments. However, the fact that individuals died is really terrible, especially given that the entire city of Bangalore and all of its admirers were rejoicing.

“I can’t say much more,” Vijay Mallya concluded.

On Wednesday, 11 people were killed in a stampede in Bengaluru, with dozens others injured. Prima facie, it appears that the incident occurred as a result of insufficient preparation and police presence to handle the enormous throng of lakhs that had assembled, ultimately leading to the disaster.
