Josh Inglis and Marcus Stoinis aren’t expected to return to India for the rest of the 2025 Indian Premier League season with the Punjab Kings.

The head coach, Ricky Ponting, is reportedly making every effort to convince the Australian pair. Three Australian members of PBKS’s support staff, including Ponting, remained in India during the IPL’s brief suspension.

In the upcoming days, PBKS has asked its players to gather. The team will begin practicing at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, their new home field, on Thursday, May 15. When the IPL resumed after being halted because of cross-border tensions, the Board of Control for Cricket in India did not choose the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala as one of their shortlisted venues.

The notable inclusion of Inglis in Australia’s 15-man team for the June 11 World Test Championship final versus South Africa was part of the 2023–25 cycle. The Proteas unit included Marco Jansen, another PBKS player. As of right now, only three foreign players—Xavier Bartlett, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Mitchell Owen—have given the PBKS management confirmation of their trip plans to India.

PBKS, with 15 points from 11 games, is presently ranked third in the standings. Hot cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan forced the cancellation of their 12th league phase match against the Delhi Capitals at Dharamsala on May 8 near the middle of the first innings. Subsequently, on May 9, the BCCI banned the IPL for one week. But on the evening of May 10, a ceasefire between the two countries was announced, and the competition was rescheduled for Saturday, May 17.
