The Andhra Pradesh Cricket Association (ACA) announced the revival of the Women’s T20 league at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 8 in Vijayawada. The competition, which was abandoned in 2024, will be restored, with the league potentially consisting of four teams, one more than the previous season.

If everything goes well, the Women’s league could be held separately, while the present idea is to hold both competitions during the same time of year. The ACA’s T20 leagues will most likely take place in August.

If the Women’s T20 league takes off, there are plans to develop it into a franchise format.

Mithali Raj, the current coordinator of Women’s Cricket in Andhra Pradesh, is expected to form a committee to manage women’s cricket in the state. According to, the committee’s goal could be to form a selection panel made up completely of female MPs.

ACA’s vision for women’s cricket.

Many state leagues are currently considering including women’s cricket alongside men’s. The ongoing Maharashtra Premier League is a good example, as men’s and women’s matches are played on the same day. Several other boards are likely to adopt a similar strategy. Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami, and Smriti Mandhana, among other Indian women’s cricket heroes, have actively contributed to the evolution of the sport.

Following their AGM, ACA issued a statement claiming that the board’s primary goal is to improve women’s cricket. The association further stated that Kesineni Sivanath, a Lok Sabha member from Vijayawada, and S Satish, a Rajya Sabha member, had a clear vision for the women’s game. An official acknowledged that the ACA is working to develop a stable structure for both men’s and women’s cricket.

“The move demonstrates ACA’s focus on women’s cricket in the state. “Our president, Kesineni Sivanath (a Lok Sabha member from Vijayawada), and secretary, S Satish (a Rajya Sabha member), have a clear vision for women’s cricket,” stated an ACA official.
