Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced an increase in compensation for the victims of the fatal stampede that happened during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) IPL 2025
Win celebrations near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The event took around 11 lives and left several more seriously injured.
Siddaramaiah announced an increase in compensation for deceased families from ₹10 lakh to ₹25 lakh. He highlighted that the government is with the affected families during this tough time and pledged that no family will face hardship due to financial constraints.
“I have ordered that the compensation for those who died in the Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede be increased from ₹10 lakh to ₹25 lakh each.” It is our government’s goal that the families who have lost loved ones would not suffer additional hardship owing to financial difficulties,” Siddaramaiah wrote on X.

The Bengaluru stampede occurred on June 4 during the RCB’s IPL 2025 victory celebrations, and it was prompted by a lack of appropriate communication and poor planning. What started off as a happy occasion rapidly turned tragedy due to poor crowd control and insufficient police presence.
In response to popular uproar, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda was suspended. The event also caused a shake-up inside the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), with two top officials, Secretary A. Shankar and Treasurer E.S. Jairam, resigning on June 7.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) received the case the day before the internal meeting. KSCA President Raghuram Bhat indicated that the association has yet to be approached by the investigative authorities. He also added that they are totally prepared to cooperate whenever necessary.
