On Sunday, June 1, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Priyansh Arya’s stunning catch ended a well-set Tilak Varma in Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2025 between the Punjab Kings and the Mumbai Indians. Tilak had to return to the pavilion after scoring 44 off 29 deliveries, including two fours and as many sixes.
Kyle Jamieson’s slower leg-cutter fooled Tilak, who was entirely caught off guard by the change. Tilak miscued his stroke, which he planned to knock directly over the bowler’s head. Arya and the fielder at long-off converged on the ball. However, it was the Punjabi native who rushed across to his right from long range to retrieve the ball.

Coming to the crucial game, PBKS won the toss and elected to field first. They ended up conceding 203/6. Tilak and Suryakumar Yadav were the joint top-scorers for the Hardik Pandya-led outfit with 44 (29) and 44 (26), respectively. Naman Dhir’s 18-ball 37-run cameo proved vital too.
Jamieson was the pick of the bowlers for PBKS. He conceded only 30 runs in his entire quota of four overs. Every bowler other than the Kiwi quick and Yuzvendra Chahal (1/39 in four overs) conceded at a rate of 10.00 or above. The winner of this contest will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final on Tuesday, June 3.
