The India men’s squad arrived in the United Kingdom on Saturday, June 7, ahead of the blockbuster five-match Test series against England, which serves as the curtain-raiser for both teams’ 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycles. With the retirement of famous players Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravichandran Ashwin from the longest format, this tour will be led by new captain Shubman Gill and a very young side.
The Indian squad, which left Mumbai on Friday, landed in the UK over the weekend. The BCCI published a behind-the-scenes video of the squad’s morale during their journey, including at London’s Heathrow Airport. Notably, in the video, ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah joked about Gill’s decision to wear sunglasses at night. Up-and-coming hitter B Sai Sudharsan, who received his first Test call-up, expressed his enthusiasm for the tour.
“Excited to be part of the Indian Test team. Welcome to the UK,” said the youngster in the video.

Notably, wherever the Indian team goes, there is always a large audience waiting for them patiently at team hotels or airports. However, according to sources, there were only a few media professionals and a small number of fans present to welcome the Indian team as they arrived in London.
Meanwhile, before the series begins, India will play a four-day warm-up match against India A. Furthermore, some other members of the squad were already in the UK, playing in India A matches and adjusting to the English circumstances. The five-Test series will be held at classic English grounds in June and August 2025, including Headingley (Leeds), Edgbaston (Birmingham), Lord’s and The Oval (London), and Old Trafford (Manchester).
