After almost two years, Ebadot Hossain returned to the Bangladesh Test team and was included in the 16-man roster for the June Test series against Sri Lanka. Following an injury he got during an ODI match against Afghanistan in July 2023, the right-arm bowler returned from recuperating from an ACL surgery.
Ebadot Hossain participated in 27 games, including three in the first division, during the 2024–2025 season.
One of those took place in May against the New Zealand A team on tour. In his first 20 Test matches, he has taken 42 wickets.
For the Sri Lanka series, the Bangladeshi selectors have removed Tanzim Hasan, Tanvir Islam, and Mahmudul Hasan Joy from the team. Additionally, Taskin Ahmed, a fast bowler, is out due to an ankle ailment that he did not fully recover from.
Litton Das, who was given a rest during the home Test series against Zimbabwe in April, is back in the red-ball format. Hasan Murad, who spins left-arm, has also been called up for the series.
He was a member of the teams that toured the West Indies and South Africa last year. Murad primarily travelled with the national team during the National Cricket League, despite playing just three first-class games in the 2024–25 season.
The 2025–2027 ICC World Test Championship cycle begins with this series. In April, Bangladesh’s most recent Test series against Zimbabwe ended in a draw at home.
It is anticipated that the Bangladeshi team would reach Sri Lanka on June 13. On June 17, the first Test will take place in Galle, while on June 25, the second Test will take place at the Singhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo. Up to July 16, the visit will wrap up with three ODIs and three T20Is.
