Rising all-rounder Mahipal Lomror of the Royal Challengers Banagalore (RCB) recently expressed his delight at being selected by the franchise at the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction. The teenager has scored 133 runs in nine matches during the ongoing IPL 2023 and has also scored his first fifty in the lucrative league.
Every athlete’s goal, according to the 23-year-old, is to play for a team with a massive fan base. Upon learning that he would be playing for RCB, he expressed his enthusiasm by mentioning that he had considered playing alongside Virat Kohli. After the auction, he felt very gratified, he said.
“My anticipations for the auction were extremely high. The 1-2 trials I had conducted had all been successful. Even in previous IPL seasons, I had performed well in 4-5 opportunities, so I anticipated that a team would select me. So, when RCB recruited me, I thought to myself that I would be playing alongside Virat Kohli on a team with such a large following.
Lomror was overheard remarking in the most recent episode of RCB Bold Diaries, “I felt proud.”
While reflecting on his 54-run, unbeaten innings against the Delhi Capitals (DC), Lomror stated that he had not scored many runs prior to that match and wished to contribute to the team’s success. He added that when he was presented with such an opportunity, he did not consider the outcome as much as he responded to the situation. Notably, the Faf du Plessis-led team lost by seven wickets to DC in that match.
“Before that game, I had not scored often, so it was evident that I wanted to contribute and help the team win. “When I was given that opportunity after we lost two wickets in two balls, I did not consider the outcome but instead reacted to the situation,” he added.

The youngster’s parents, who were also in attendance, expressed their pride in his accomplishments thus far. His father, Krishan Kumar Lomror, expressed his delight at seeing his son play alongside the former India captain and his optimism that he will one day represent India.
“We are thrilled to see him perform alongside Sir Virat. We are extremely proud of his accomplishment and look forward to seeing him play for India in the future, said Lomror’s father.
