The South African team’s captain, Temba Bavuma, backed fast bowler Sisanda Magala by saying that there is no longer any talk about him outside of the team. In the second one-day international, which took place on March 31, Temba Bavuma team beat the Netherlands by eight wickets (ODI). This put the Proteas one step closer to getting a spot in the Cricket World Cup without having to try. Magala was the man of the match because he took three wickets for 37 runs.
Temba Bavuma said that Magala’s performance in the second ODI against the Netherlands gave the team momentum because he took wickets. The bowler, who is 32 years old, is becoming a key part of the Proteas’ white-ball bowling attack.
“Sisanda is positioning himself as one of the match-winners on this team, especially with the ball,”Temba Bavuma was quoted as saying by IOL.co.za. “He picked up those wickets at crucial times, which gave us momentum, and we ran with it.”
“There’s probably also a lot of relief from a lot of people and himself about the opportunities he’s now getting. There’s no more outside noise; it’s now just about the cricket he’s playing on the field. He’s thriving. A lot of things have happened for him and a lot more will happen in the coming months,” he said.
In IPL 2023, Sisanda Magala will play for Chennai Super Kings.
Magala will play for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Bavuma thinks the experience will be important for Magala when he travels to compete in the cash-rich league. On the other hand, Bavuma was hesitant to commit to him in the team if they qualified for the upcoming World Cup, which will be held in India from October 5.
“For the team’s sake, we want him to learn and grow in India and keep putting on these kinds of shows. “These lessons will help him perform better later in the year, but that doesn’t mean he’s guaranteed a spot on a World Cup team,” Bavuma said.
