On Friday, March 31, Kane Williamson of the Gujarat Titans suffered a major injury to his right knee while fielding on the deep square leg boundary during the team’s season-opening match against the Chennai Super Kings. Just after 13 overs of his maiden game for the Titans, the Kiwi batter was removed from the field and appeared to be in severe discomfort.
Before the ball eventually rebounded back and struck the sideline, he was able to stop it from going over the ropes, but he hurt his knee landing after the jump. After receiving care on the sidelines from both teams’ physios, Kane Williamson was shortly led back to the locker room. Sai Sudharshan was consequently added by Titans as their impact player for the second inning.
Kane Williamson is thought to have been sidelined for the balance of the IPL 2023 despite the fact that the severity of the injury is still unknown. We’re still waiting on an official update from Gujarat Titans management.

The Gujarat Titans won the toss and decided to chase, which is related to how the game turned out. Devon Conway’s dismissal dealt the Chennai Super Kings an early setback, but Ruturaj Gaikwad kept the scoreboard moving. The player made the most of his time on the field by performing at his peak. In 50 deliveries, he scored 92 runs, hitting four fours and nine massive sixes.
However, other batters did not provide much assistance for him, which caused CSK to lose steam in the first innings. MS Dhoni, the captain, scored a four and a six in the waning moments of the game to enable CSK reach 178/7.
In response, the Gujarat Titans’ in-form opener Shubman Gill scored 63 runs off 36 balls, and the batting unit’s combined efforts, along with Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan’s finishing prowess, enabled the Titans to easily complete the chase with four balls remaining.
