Ahead of the much awaited ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Eoin Morgan, the captain of England’s World Cup-winning team, was all praise for India’s captain Rohit Sharma. He claimed to be a fan of Sharma. The ICC (International Cricket Council) worldwide event will be played in India from October 5 to November 19, with the curtain-raiser in Ahmedabad involving reigning champions England vs. New Zealand.
Morgan said that Rohit had a significant influence on his team even though he wasn’t the team’s leader. The 36-year-old added that Kohli will take the same course. Having won the World Cup in 2011, he said, the former India captain will significantly impact Rohit in the changing room.
“I’ve always admired captain and leader Rohit Sharma.
As you can see, he has the team to compete well in the world cup and the capacity to lead his team with him. I know Rohit commands a lot of respect among the group and is a pretty good leader of men because I’ve spoken to several members of his squad. I have no doubt that he had an impact in the locker room even when he wasn’t captain.
“Virat Kohli is currently in the locker room, which is another significant plus for India going into the world cup, similar to how I believe. World Cup champion Kohli, who competed at home in 2011, soil will make a major difference to Rohit in the Indian change room,” Morgan said while speaking to Revsportz on the show Backstage with Boria Majumdar. One of the greatest players I have ever seen is Virat Kohli: Morgan
Eoin Morgan continued to compliment Virat Kohli, the top batsman for India, calling him one of the all-time greats of cricket. The 36-year-old continued by saying that Kohli enjoys playing on large stages and that he wouldn’t want to compete against him at a World Cup-style event. The Englishman claimed that the former captain of India capitalizes on the excitement and fervor surrounding major competitions.
He is a fantastic player. One of the very best and greatest I have ever saw. The best aspect of Kohli is how he conducts himself both on and off the field. He enjoys performing on large stages, thus if you are his opponent, you don’t want to meet him at a major event like the World Cup because you know he will do well for his team. We have observed him doing this repeatedly in the past; he has this ability to make the momentous occasions count.
He is a leader in that group, and Rohit Sharma will benefit greatly from his presence in the changing area. Additionally, there will be players who may have nerves, and for them, having Kohli nearby cannot be better. He is a key player for India in the World Cup and will instill in them the confidence they require. He capitalizes on the excitement and fervor surrounding major sporting events to change lives. Few athletes in my generation were capable of doing that. He will also desire to triumph. He competes like that and is focused like that. He’ll want to take that trophy home, Morgan continued.
