Prashant Shetty, Prithvi Shaw former coach, provided insight into the batter’s miserable performance for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.
Notably, Prithvi Shaw has faced a great deal of backlash because of his inconsistent batting results for the team.
The batter’s performance has declined, and he was benched for the previous game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The 23-year-old has played in six games and has a series of poor results to his name: 12, 7, 0, 15, 0, 13. Prashant Shetty, Prithvi Shaw former coach, added that the first few games are “very important” to maintain the momentum.
His and my expectations were clearly not met in the first few games. But over the years, this has been his strategy and frame of mind. It carries more danger. He accepts that danger. The first two games are crucial for a player like him, Shetty said in an interview with News18.
Getting an early goal gives you momentum. Even Shaw needs that early momentum, just like a team does. Pressure mounted as a result of the failure to materialize. He is hitting good, but all it takes is one ball to get a batter out,” the speaker continued.
His outlook is positive. Prashant Shetty
Prithvi Shaw has been working hard in the nets despite his lackluster league performance, and he will be eager to return with a big win. Shetty added that despite losing his slot, like happened in the last match, the batsman remains confident in his prospects.
“His disposition is upbeat. In the nets, he is doing well. He is young but also wise enough to understand that hitting effectively in the nets can pay off at any point during the game. If one performs poorly in the nets and loses the management’s trust, the situation changes. His extended tenure with the management indicates that even they trust him, according to Shetty.
DC has currently won two straight games and will try to keep up their winning streak to move up the points table. On April 29, David Warner and company will square off against SRH once more at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
