Nathan Lyon, an off-spinner from Australia, wants to win more medals for his country before he calls it quits. Lyon has been Australia’s first-choice red-ball spinner for a long time. Australia will play India in the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) on June 7 at the Oval in London. The 2023 Ashes will take place in England from June 16 to July 31.
Even though players like Todd Murphy, Mitchell Swepson, Ashton Agar, and Matthew Kuhnemann are becoming more popular, Lyon has no plans to quit soon. The experienced spinner has done a lot in his career, but he has never won an Ashes series in England or a match against India on the subcontinent.
Nathan Lyon said that he might play until 2027 to win the series, which is when both matches will be over. The 35-year-old said he doesn’t want to get a certain number of wickets and then quit. He also said he wants to get better every day by learning and having fun with the game.
“There is no clear boundary. I don’t mean to say that I want to get so many catches and then give up. According to Nathan Lyon statement to 7News, “I still want to get better every day, learn, and really enjoy the game.”
“Australian cricket teams have won in India before, but it’s still something I’d love to be able to do. My goal is to win the World Test Championship in both England and India.”
He said that he had never met anyone who could master the game of cricket. He also made it clear that he would not be able to master it himself, but that he would try his best to learn something new every day. Lyon also said that if you fail, you will learn from it and find a way to get better.
