India secured their spot in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 final by defeating Bangladesh by 10 wickets in the first semi-final. Eight Bangladeshi cricket players scored in single figures, capping another fantastic performance from the bowlers. Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain, praised the bowlers for their excellent effort following the win.
The only player to respond was captain Nigar Sultana, but her 32 runs off 51 deliveries were insufficient as Bangladesh managed just 83 runs in the opening session. She continued by saying that despite the high expectations, the squad is under a lot of strain and is pleased with its performance thus far. She said that the idea is to keep things straightforward and encouraged the participants to express themselves.
Renuka Singh, a 28-year-old pacer who took the wickets of Dilara Akter, Murshida Khatun, and Ishma Tanjim, decimated Bangladesh’s top order. Bangladesh was down to 21/3 and needed a miracle to get back, but it never materialised. In the middle overs, spinner Radha Yadav dominated, taking three wickets to completely demolish Bangladesh’s batting lineup.
“Our bowlers performed admirably. They followed our lead in the team meeting and said everything we said. Extremely pleased with their bowling performance. We are under a great deal of pressure because we have been winning Asian cricket. Things are easy for us. We wish to express ourselves publicly. In the post-match presentation, Harmanpreet stated, “We work hard to prepare ourselves in the nets.”
