During the first ODI between India and Australia on March 17 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India’s star seamer Mohammed Shami was happy to bowl with Mohammed Siraj. Since Jasprit Bumrah is out with a back injury, it is up to of them to bowl with the new ball while he is out.
Both Mohammed Shami and Siraj have been in great shape this year, taking important wickets for the team at key times. Even though India won’t have Jasprit Bumrah until September 2022, Shami thinks they have a great bowling unit for both Tests and games with fewer than 50 overs.
“Since Bumrah last played, it has been a long time. We’re unlucky that he’s not there. But we have a very good white ball and red ball bowling unit as a whole. We give each other a lot of help, “He said this in the press conference after the game.
He also said that he likes to bowl with Siraj because they both try to bowl tight lines.
“Siraj has played for a while, so he is sure of himself. When bowling with a partner, it’s important to keep an eye on how well the other person is doing. We try to bowl as tight as we can and keep the ball in certain spots. Senior bowlers have to set the pace, “Pacer, who is 32 years old, said.
In the first ODI, both Mohammed Shami and Siraj were on fire, taking three wickets each to break the back of Australia’s batting. After his first three overs, Shami came back in the middle overs and wiped out the lower order of the Australian team. On the other hand, Siraj got India’s first strike when he got rid of Travis Head in the second over. He then came back to get rid of the rest of the opposition’s players.
So, India bowled Australia out for 188 runs and reached the goal in 39.5 overs with five wickets left.
You have to be smart about how you handle your work: Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami said that he isn’t thinking too far ahead about India’s WTC final and ODI World Cup games later this year because there is still a lot of time until the big games. The speedster also talked about how to manage your work when you have a busy schedule.
“The WTC final and the World Cup are still a long way off. You can’t think that far ahead as a player. You never know what’s going to happen the next day Mohammed Shami said.
“But you have to be smart about how much work you take on and focus on what you do well. As far as international cricket goes, you know how much work you have. It’s better to take it one match or one series at a time “Shami added.
