West Indies beat Ireland by 5 wickets (D/L method)

That's it from the ODI series then. West Indies have equaled Sri Lanka in terms of points in the ICC ODI rankings with this 3-0 series win. Now, it is time for some T20I action as both West Indies and Ireland take on each other in the 3-match T20 series, the first one of which will be played on January 15 Wednesday. The game will begin at 1300 local (1700 GMT). We will love your company for that game. Till then, take care!
Kieron Pollard, West Indies skipper, starts by saying that he is really pleased with the performance. Credits the bowlers for superb outings in all the games. Feels that they were accurate with respect to lines and lengths. Praises the batting from centurion Lewis, King and Pooran for their contribution. On the team changes, Pollard says that they have had discussions on the changes in the dressing room. Talking about Hetmyer missing out from this game, Pollard tells that it is good for West Indies cricket as it tells the dynamics of the side.
Andy Balbirnie, Ireland skipper, tells that they were outclassed by the West Indies bowlers. Feels that 250-260 should've been a good total. Adds that he is really proud of the boys and they will continue working hard. On the positives from the series, Balbirnie believes that the second game was a positive one for them. Feels they had a chance to win the game but they missed out on that one. Finishes by saying that they have the right balance in the squad and they have brought in some freshness to the T20I squad.
EVIN LEWIS IS NAMED THE MAN OF THE MATCH AND SERIES! Tells that he certainly is a relieved man as all the hard work he put in the nets came off today. Shares that his approach has not changed and adds that there was some spin but it was a really good wicket for batting. On his missed chance of scoring a century in the first ODI, Lewis says that he was determined this time to execute his plans and is delighted to score his maiden century in the Caribbean. Lets everyone know that the captain and coach are backing the players well and all their hard work in the nets is coming off nicely.
Ireland were extremely poor with their batting approach and apart from Andy Balbirnie, there was no fight shown by them. Hayden Walsh had a brilliant game where he claimed the third 4-wicket haul by a West Indian bowler in this series. During the chase, Evin Lewis displayed excellent form and stroked his third ODI ton. His partnerships with Brandon King and Nicholas Pooran were enough to see West Indies home.
A walk in the park for West Indies! They were not convincing in the last match but have produced a clinical win here to complete a clean sweep. The hosts never got pushed in this match. First, their bowlers were right on the button to restrict Ireland to a paltry total and then their batsmen stepped up to scale down the target without breaking a sweat.

OUT! Caught behind! Simi has a wicket in his first over. He dishes out a flatter and shorter delivery outside off, skidding straight on after landing, Ambris rocks back to cut it square of the wicket but it takes the outside edge and settles into the gloves of Tucker. Not a good outing for Ambris this time around against Ireland. 150 needed off 246 balls. The visitors need to keep chipping away at the wickets to stay in with any chance.

FOUR! This is very substandard bowling by Craig Young. He continues to favour the shorter length but his pace is not good enough to hurry the batsman. Ambris joins the party now as he pulls it in front of square leg for a boundary. 12 from the over and West Indies are going on steadily.
6.5

OUT! McCarthy strikes and draws first blood! Hope is very much trapped in front. Brilliant delivery by McCarthy. He spears in a fuller length ball around off at 130 kph and gets it to nip back into the batsman off the seam. Hope attempts to play it across the line but fails to make any connection. The ball strikes him on the pads, they appeal and the umpire lifts his finger after thinking for a while. Shai has a chat with his partner before taking the DRS but the technology doesn't aid him here. No bat on the Ultra Edge and the Ball Tracker shows that everything is in line and the leg stump is getting disturbed. The only review is consumed. Yet another average outing for Hope in this series. Let's see what Sunil Ambris can do now as he joins Lewis out in the middle.
LBW Shout! Up goes the finger. Shai Hope is not looking too confident here. He walks up to his partner and has a chat. Takes the DRS after that. The Ultra Edge finds no wood and the Ball Tracker returns three reds.

Back for the run chase, folks! There is no rain threat currently as the sun is out but there are a few clouds around too. Out come the Irish players on the field. They were dismal with the bat and now will have to bowl out of their skins to make a match out of this one. West Indies are opening with Shai Hope and Evin Lewis and would hope that their openers provide a good start, unlike the last two ODIs. Spin to begin for Ireland. It's Andy McBrine to roll his arm. A slip in place...
How will things pan out during the chase? Will West Indies chase this total down easily or will Ireland finish the series with a win? Do join us in a short while to find out.
The target does not look to be a massive one but West Indies did struggle during the chase in the 2nd ODI. They would be eyeing improvement in this area and register a clinical win to complete the clean sweep.
Hayden Walsh is down for an interview with Daren Ganga. Starts by saying it was all about pitching the ball in the right areas. Adds that as the game went on, the ball began to turn more so he tried his variations like the googly. Further says that the ball got a bit older and that is why he got more assistance off the pitch. Ends by saying that they wanted to restrict the Irish to a total of 180 or less but he is confident that his team's batters can knock this target out of the park too.
West Indies were really good with the ball throughout the innings. Oshane Thomas removed the openers early while Roston Chase and Hayden Walsh tightened the screws with their spin bowling. Walsh eventually finished with a 4-fer and stifled Ireland in the middle overs. Romario Shepherd and Alzarri Joseph too were excellent in their spells. Thomas removed the last man to finish with a 3-wicket haul.
A brilliant bowling performance from West Indies means Ireland can only manage a total of 203 runs. Their batting never got going as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals or rather, kept throwing their wickets away. Apart from Andy Balbirnie, the skipper, none of the Irish batters could contribute much with the bat. McCollum, O'Brien and Tucker, were able to get starts but failed to make it count. A 25-run knock off 22 balls from McBrine in the final overs helped them get over the 200-run mark.

OUT! TIMBER! This is brilliant bowling from Hayden Walsh. Tucker cannot believe it and he has to make the long walk back to the pavilion. A googly around off, Tucker does not read it and goes for a drive. The ball kisses the off stump. The umpire is not sure whether the ball hit the stumps or the keeper whipped the bails off. The third umpire is called and then the replays roll in. It shows that the ball had just touched the off stump and the bail took ages to come off. Tucker has to go.

A warm welcome to the final ODI between West Indies and Ireland in Grenada. The hosts won a close encounter the last time around, winning by 1 wicket. That too with the help of some great batting by the lower order. They would now hope that the top order comes good and put in a dominating performance. On the other hand, Ireland improved their performance in the second match taking the match to the very end. Their batting though has been a cause of concern. Andy Balbirnie would want one big innings from one of their batsmen which has not yet happened in this series. There was some overnight rain. Good news is that there is no rain as of now and the match should start on time. Will Ireland end the ODI series on a high or will the hosts complete a whitewash? Stay tuned for the toss and the teams.
