Brisbane Heat beat Melbourne Renegades by 26 runs

That's it from this first game of today's double-header. The action does not finish yet as there is another game going on at MCG where Melbourne Stars are playing Perth Scorchers. So switch tabs and enjoy all the action from that game.
MARNUS LABUSCHAGNE IS NAMED AS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH FOR HIS INNINGS OF 49 RUNS!
Earlier after winning the toss, the Heat began with a bang as Chris Lynn and Max Bryant added a 78-run stand for the first wicket. Lynn in the process went past his fifty but failed to convert it into a bigger score. Though they failed to get bigger partnerships at the fag end of the innings but Marnus Labuschagne carried his form from the recently concluded Test series as he smashed a 31-ball 49 to take Brisbane to 173 runs. The Renegades' bowling was good in patches as they started well but after the first 10 over fizzed out. Zak Evans ended up with 3 wickets as others failed to support him. In the end it all ended up in Brisbane's pocket as they won the game easily.
The Heat bowling was good throughout. They didn't let the Renegades off to a good start and kept taking wickets at regular intervals. The spinning duo of Swepson and Laubushagne bowled tight lines and were rewarded with wickets too. The other bowlers too played their part as they managed to dismiss the Renegades for just 147. Mark Steketee ended with a 3-fer as Xavier Bartlett and Mitchell Swepson ended with a couple each. Overall, good bowling and sharp catching led Brisbane to a win.
Chasing a target of 174, Renegades didn't start well with the bat as they lost their skipper Finch early. Shaun Marsh played some beautiful strokes for his 28 but was dismissed by Swepson. Wicketkeeper batsman Sam Harper was the star with the bat with a superb 57, but once he was dismissed by Marnus Labuschagne, it didn't took long for the innings to get folded out for 147.
Brisbane Heat stay alive in the tournament with this 26 run win over the Renegades. The Renegades meanwhile are well and truly out of the tournament and would want their terrible season to come to an end soon.
