Indian Legends beat West Indian Legends by 7 wickets

Right! The Road Safety Series has got off in grand style! India Legends start off with a fine win. Sunday, March 8, 2020, sees Australia take on Sri Lanka. Join us at 7 pm local (1330 GMT). ADIOS! TAKE CARE!
Victorious India Legends captain, Sachin Tendulkar, believes that it is a fantastic start to the tournament. Feels special to be back at the Wankhede post 2013. Is happy with the continuous buzz. On Sehwag stating that he kept people on his toes for the last 2 days, Tendulkar smiles, being surprised and says that the only message he gave was to enjoy yourself. On his batting in this game, SRT revels at the marvel of playing after 5 and a half years and states that everything, apart from his body, was borrowed. On the message to spread awareness about road safety, Sachin says that it is all about following the rules. On Zaheer Khan taking the magnificent catch to dismiss Ricardo Powell, Tendulkar says that just before that ball, he was telling Zaheer from short fine leg to go 5 yards behind but Zak did not hear him at all. Still, praises the catch which was taken. Thanks the crowd for turning up in large numbers and believes that the same turnout should be there for every game of this series.
VIRENDER SEHWAG HAS BEEN NAMED THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH. On his opening cover drive and batting till the end, Sehwag credits it to Tendulkar, advicing him every now and then. Adds that he has been kept on his toes since the last two days. On the wicket, Sehwag says that it was not the best to bat upon and someone had to stay till the end. Praises Tino Best for bowling fast but also adds that his pace is useful in scoring easy runs. On the message to use road safety, Sehwag states the importance of using helmets and safety belts on bikes and cars and also crossing roads carefully if you are walking.
West Indies Legends skipper, Brian Lara says that his team has had a wonderful time, although, laments the issues due to jet lag, with plenty of players arriving just a couple of days ago. States that the message has come out loud and clear - regarding road safety in India. Agrees that most of the people have come to watch Sachin Tendulkar but still congratulates everyone for turning up. On his own batting touch, Lara smiles and says that yesterday, he was not looking that great but when you are in the middle, you need to give your best. Feels sad that he could not carry opn and support Chanderpaul and believes that the opening Tendulkar-Sehwag stand batted West Indies out of the game.
Earlier in the evening, after electing to chase, India Legends were in for a massive total but some cunning bowling in the death overs saw them restrict their opponents to 150. Most of those runs came from the bat of the tireless and ageless Shivnarine Chanderpaul. Please stay tuned for the presentation...
Decent comeback by the West Indies Legends, just like their counterparts but they were probably 15-20 runs short. 170 could have been a difficult one to chase down on this pitch. The track did offer turn and Benn and Hooper made the most out of it. But th lack of penetration by the opening bowlers could not quite keep the Caribbeans in the game.
Pretty convincing win for the Indians. Never looked in doubt, did it? Chasing is also favoured at the Wankhede and here it was no different. The opening stand set it up, with Tendulkar and Sehwag adding 83 in 62 balls. After that, the game did slow down a touch but Sehwag stayed till the end to ensure that there was no harakiri.

FOUR! India Legends are away with a boundary! Full and down the leg side, Sehwag looks to flick but the ball goes off the inner half, through square leg!
The players are already out in the middle! Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag are the Indian openers, ready to rewind the clocks. Pedro Collins to start off proceedings to Sehwag. Here we go...
The pitch seems to be on the slower side but dew is expected to play its part in the chase. That might make the ball skid onto the bat and batting should be easier. India should not be too worried. Stay tuned...
Great comeback by the Indian bowlers. They started poorly but the wicket of Danza Hyatt changed proceedings. The Windies were 109/2 at the end of the 13 overs. The last 7 overs yielded just 41 runs and 6 wickets. Munaf Patel and Pragyan Ojha were excellent, with combined figures of 8-0-55-4 while Zaheer was excellent at the death.
Well, that seems like an under-par score. The Caribbeans were 100 around the 12th over, so they should have at least got to 180. But Chanderpaul's discomfort cost them a few runs. Batting first is never easy at the Wankhede and the visitors struggled. Only Chanderpaul managed to play comfortably (with discomfort in his hamstring), getting past 50.
Daren Ganga says that he is happy with 150 but given the start his team got, they should have got to 170-180. Feels that Chanderpaul's hamstring pull slowed down the innings. Expects his bowlers to bowl their hearts out now. Thanks the crowd for turning up to watch 40-year olds play. Praises Zaheer Khan's skill and rues that they could not get enough of Brian Lara and Shivnarine Chanderpual. Wishes Indian fans all the best to get enough action of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag at the crease. Ensures that the Windies will fight hard.

OUT! That is a stunner of a catch! Zaheer Khan, you beauty! The West Indies Legends are collapsing here. Full and down the leg side, pretty loose ball, Powell accepts the gift and flicks it nonchalantly. The timing looks good and for a second, a question arises - why is Zaheer Khan standing 10 yards inside the boundary at deep square leg? The ball seems destined to travel over his head but the former speedster watches the ball till the last moment, sticks out his right hand, the momentum takes him back and voila! The ball sticks! Tremendous catch.

Hello and welcome to the first game of the Road Safety World Series T20 2020! A lot of legends of the game will roll back the years and once again showcase their skills. They would surely not be as agile and quick as they were but it would be a pleasure watching them play once again. Especially the youngsters who must have hardly got a chance to watch these legends of the game. To start off with, they will be witnessing probably two of the great batters of their generation, Sachin Tendulkar and Brain Lara as it is India Legends taking on West Indies legends. A cracking contest awaits!
