India Capitals beat Gujarat Greats by 4 wickets

Right then, that's it from the coverage of this game. The action in the Legends League Cricket will continue on 9th October, as the wagon now moves to Srinagar. It will be a contest between Toyam Hyderabad and Southern Super Stars. The first ball will be at 3 pm IST (9.30 am GMT). But you can join us early for the build-up. ADIOS!
Ian Bell wins the Player of the Match award for his match-winning knock. Ian Bell reflected on the match, noting that batting in Jammu wasn't easy. He mentioned that the challenging conditions made it enjoyable for a low-scoring thriller. Bell explained that the team opted to include an extra batter, anticipating the possibility of losing a wicket during the Powerplay. Despite finding the game fun, he admitted it wasn’t their best performance. He emphasized the importance of the match as a must-win, commending the team’s fighting spirit but acknowledging a few areas that need improvement. Bell concluded by saying they will aim to win the next game.
Shikhar Dhawan, the captain of Gujarat Greats says that the partnership between bell and Bharat took the pressure away from them and game away from his side. Mentions that the score they put out was a good one but they couldn't fight that well with the ball. Reckons that they will come out all guns blazing in every game but just that such tracks are not good for T20 cricket.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier in the innings, Gujarat Greats also lost early wickets, but Mohammad Kaif and Yashpal Singh countered the pressure effectively. They built an important partnership, setting a competitive target on the board. In the end, the dew played in favor of the chasing side.
Ian Bell's steady presence, along with vital partnerships with Ben Dunk and Bharat Chipli, proved crucial in their chase. Bell's composed performance anchored the innings, guiding India Capitals to a hard-fought victory. Gujarat Greats will look back at missed opportunities, while the Capitals held their nerve to come out on top. Manan Sharma was unplayable with the ball in hand. He picked up a four-fer, and was the pick of the bowler's for Gujarat Greats.
India Capitals seemed to struggle with their approach from the outset. Although Naman Ojha stayed up close to the stumps in the first innings, he had trouble adjusting to the conditions early on. Dwayne Smith, brought in as the impact player, managed to hit a maximum but was dismissed shortly after, with Ojha following soon. In response to the early setbacks, India Capitals altered their strategy, promoting Colin to number 3, followed by Iqbal at number 4. While Colin de Grandhomme got off to a promising start, he couldn't convert it into a substantial score.
WHAT A GAME! A last ball thriller. It felt like we could have the second Super Over of LLC, but that isn't the case. Gujarat Greats were exceptional with the ball in hand, but Ian Bell led from the front and got his team over the line here. Gujarat Greats remain at the bottom of the points table, despite giving it their all in this game.
