Right then, England have been handed a taste of their own medicine with how Pakistan have batted in the first session and the home side will now look to consolidate after the break. The visitors will have to attack early and be smart in order to pick up some scalps and get back in the contest. There's still a long way to go on Day 1 but the second session could be crucial for either side. Join us at 7.40 am GMT for the post-Lunch session.
England on the other hand began with some control as Chris Woakes and Gus Atkinson bowled tight lines and the latter picked up a wicket as well. However, they weren't consistent with their lengths and the change-up bowlers gave away some loose balls. Shoaib Bashir was on the receiving end of some attacking cricket from Masood and England will look to employ more of their senior spinner, Jack Leach after the break.
Pakistan walked out to bat on a pitch that looked quite flat but Saim Ayub got strangled down the leg side to hand the opposition an early wicket. However, skipper Shan Masood then walked in and showed positive intent right from the start. Abdullah Shafique too looked solid and the duo piled on runs for fun with both surpassing the fifty-run mark before the Lunch break.
A fine first session from Pakistan's point of view and they have done justice to the captain's decision to bat first. England are seemingly in for a long day in the outfield but as we have seen in Pakistan, wickets do tend to fall once the ball starts reversing.
