Brisbane Heat beat Adelaide Strikers by 6 wickets

Right! That's all from this game! This turned out to be a one-sided affair. Heat face Thunder in the Knockout. That game will be played on 31st January 2021. However, before that, we have got the Qualifier lined up where Sydney Sixers will take on Perth Scorchers. That game will be played on Saturday, 30th January 2021. The action will begin at 1915 local (0815 GMT). Do join for that game. For now, it is goodbye from our end. Cheers and take care!
Jimmy Peirson is named Player of the Match for his fine performance. Tells that he is pleased to go through and he can't wait to play the Thunder in the Knockout. Praises their bowlers for delivering in this crucial match. On him being dropped in the field, Jimmy says that he looked to make full use of the opportunity and take the team home. Says that they have got the momentum going their way now.
Earlier in the game, the Heat bowlers put on a brilliant performance with the ball. Unlike the Strikers, the fielding from Heat was sensational to say the least as they took a few stunners in the field. None of the Strikers' batters could go big. Weatherald got a start but he ran himself out. The likes of Carey, Head, and Salt played out over 20 balls but struggled to get going. Wells, who came in as the X-Factor substitute, scored 20 off 14 to help the team get to 130. The Heat spinners were superb with Labuschagne and Swepson taking 3 and 2 respectively. They dried up the runs and didn't offer freebies throughout the innings. Eventually, the effort from them with the ball meant that they managed to chase the total down, despite having a poor start.
In spite of having a low score on the board, the Strikers gave themselves a chance with early strikes. They got 3 inside the Powerplay but things didn't go their way after that. Their fielding was poor as they spilled three chances in the field and that became really costly for them. They bowled tightly when Denly and Peirson were batting and didn't allow them to run away with the game but the wickets never came.
The chase didn't start well for the Heat as they lost skipper Lynn in the first over. Marnus Labuschagne and Sam Heazlett were removed as well and it looked like the Strikers will choke them down. However, Denly and Peirson got things in place for them with their 69-run stand. Denly holed out in search of quick runs but Peirson stayed till the end and played a lovely innings of 47. He hit just 2 boundaries in the game but it wasn't the demand of the game anyway. Burns played his part with run-a-ball 17.
Peirson sails Heat home with a calm head on his shoulders. The Heat stuttered in this run chase but Denly and Peirson got things in place for them with their fine performance. Peirson held the fort and has made sure they are through to face the Thunder in the Knockout. And Strikers, well they have got themselves to blame.

Here's the winning run and it has come off the bat of Peirson. A fuller ball on middle, Peirson flicks it through mid-wicket and scampers back for two. That will be enough. Brisbane Heat win by 6 wickets and they are through to the Knockout.

FOUR! SHOT! What a shot! Full and wide outside off, Peirson stays back and and squeezes it through backward point and short thrid man. It races to the fence now. Heat just a strike away from the win now.

WIDE! Banged short but it goes well over the batter. Called wide.

FOUR! Peirson finds the fence. A fuller ball on the pads, Jimmy flicks it past the man at fine leg for a boundary.

Dropped! Oh, dear! Briggs is the man this time. One of the simplest chances you will see ever. A short ball around off, Burns looks to cut but gets it off the outside edge. The ball goes straight to Briggs at short third man. He spills it. That should be it for the Strikers here.
Wes Agar to bowl the penultimate over. 13 needed now from 12 balls. Can he take a wicket or two?
