Brisbane Heat beat Melbourne Renegades by 5 wickets

Right then! That's all from this game! The Heat move up to 5th position on the points table while the Renegades' chances of making it to the playoffs diminish further. On Friday, 15th January 2021, Melbourne Stars go up against Adelaide Strikers at the MCG. That match will begin at 1915 local (0815 GMT). Join us for that. Until then, cheers and take care.
Joe Burns, the PLAYER OF THE MATCH, says that he just tried to be clear about what his options are and is pleased to get the win. Adds that it was a slow wicket and they knew that the Renegades had a few spinners but the dew worked in their favour. Tells that they have discussed to take the game deep. Also says that Joe Denly coming in changes their team composition. States that they now go to Melbourne and hopes that they can play some good cricket. Mentions that Morne Morkel will play a big part in the games going forward.
Earlier, in the day, The Heat bowlers did really well to restrict the Renegades batsmen to just 149. All the bowlers bowled well for them, barring Jack Wildermuth who went for more than 50 in his 4 overs. Morne Morkel on his BBL debut had a decent outing. For Melbourne, only Beau Webster had a major impact with the bat. His 50 was the key for them reaching a respectable score. But in the end, it did not prove to be enough.
The Renegades' bowling was really good! They kept it tight for a long time but their fielding did not help. Also Jack Prestwidge's over after the break changed the complexion of the game completely. That is probably the over that cost them the game. Overall though one has to believe they were 10 to 20 runs short with the bat. The dropped catches and the No Ball from Prestwidge did not help their cause.
Chasing a moderate total. the Heat got off to a slow but a decent start. Bryant fell but Lynn and Denly continued the good work. Lynn's drop is probably what changed the game completely. He struck a few meaty blows after that and got to his half ton before being dismissed. Denly played as the perfect foil to him but the wicket of Lynn changed things a little. The Heat ended up losing a few quick wickets which saw their side come under pressure. Burns though kept his calm and played a match-winning knock.
How good was that innings from Burns? When he came out, Heat were cruising but his side kept losing wickets and at one stage, there was a lot of pressure on him. He though has kept his cool and has taken his side over the line.
