Right then! That's all from this game! Guyana are back to winning ways while Saint Lucia's winning streak comes to an end. CPL action continues on Thursday, 9th September 2021 as Barbados Royals go up against Trinbago Knight Riders which starts at 10 am local (2 pm GMT) and it will be followed by Saint Lucia Kings going up against Jamaica Tallawahs which will begin at 7 pm local (11 pm GMT). Do join us then. Cheers and take care.
Nicholas Pooran, the Warriors' skipper, says at 150 they had a chance to get over the line. Adds they have quality spinners in the team. Also says, once they dominate the Powerplay they can end things pretty early on. Adds Imran Tahir also bowled a great spell. Adds Brandon King did not start this campaign on a good note, but he showed character and delivered to get the team over the line. Ends by saying they needed this victory in this game.
Faf du Plessis, the Kings' skipper, says they played really well for 15 overs but could not see the game over the line in the end. Mentions his guys missed an opportunity to cash in, in the end. Adds they have been trying different guys with the ball, but they still get hit on the leg side. But hope they come out with a better intent in the next game.
Gudakesh Motie, Man of the Match, is up for a chat. He says that he has worked a lot on his variations and the coaching staff has helped him really well to grow as a bowler. Adds that he is happy to get a wicket of an international batter like Faf du Plessis. Mentions he has learned a lot from Imran Tahir as well.
Stay tuned for the Presentation ceremony...
It was a terrific bowling display from Guyana Amazon Warriors. Gudakesh Motie was brilliant at the start, picking up 2 wickets and giving away just 12 runs. Imran Tahir was good as well but it was the spell of Naveen-ul-Haq who changed the game. He was very economical in his 4 overs and he deserved more wickets and he should have had more if the catches were taken. Yes, they were very poor in the field but in the end, it did not prove to be costly as they managed to win.
Chasing 152, the Kings started decently with Faf du Plessis and Andre Fletcher looking good but once du Plessis fell, they lost a couple of more wickets after that. Chase and David came together and stitched a partnership together and it seemed that they will take Saint Lucia home but Chase's wicket opened the floodgates. David failed to find the boundaries at will and they eventually fell short.
An excellent bowling performance has seen Guyana Amazon Warriors win over Saint Lucia Kings! They were brilliant and thoroughly deserve the win. Saint Lucia Kings will be disappointed with the performance and they would want to get back to winning ways.
