Australia beat Sri Lanka by 9 wickets

That is it from this match. Australia have won the match and the series in convincing fashion. However, we still have one more game remaining in this series where Sri Lanka will be trying to end on a high after some underwhelming performances. As for the Aussies, they have the opportunity to whitewash the Island nation. Join us on Friday, 1st November on 1910 Local (0810 GMT) for the final match of the series. Till then, cheers and take care.
For his unbeaten knock of 60 off 41 balls, David Warner is named the Man of the Match. Warner too credits his bowlers for restricting them to 117. On the pitch, he says there was more bounce and carry than Adelaide. On his own for, he says he has worked hard and tried to hit the ball well in the nets. He though adds that all that matters is the performance out in the middle. On batting with Steve Smith, Warner tells that it is wonderful to bat with him. Smiles and says he was aware that it would involve a lot of running. But Warner says he is a world class player and it is always a joy to bat with him as he makes it look easy.
Australian skipper, Aaron Finch is next up. Finch says they were clinical and they set the game with the ball early on. Credits Warner and Smith for their performance with the bat adding that they are class. Tells that the bowlers executed the plans well and delivered with the ball making it easy for him as a partner. On Warner and Smith's comeback, Finch says that it is wonderful to have two of the best batters back in the squad. Further adds that they have been excellent within the group.
Sri Lankan skipper, Lasith Malinga is first up for a chat with Isa Guha. Malinga says that Australia is a tough side and it was difficult to defend 118. Admits that the batters need to put in a better effort and bat according to the situation. Tells they failed to get any partnership going and that is why they are in this situation. Malinga tells they have to go back home and have a re-look before the T20I World Cup here.
Who do you think will be the Man of the Match? Warner or Smith for their brilliant batting display or one of the Aussie bowler who set up the game? Stay tuned for the presentation.
Steve Smith is down for a quick chat. Smith tells they played well and credits his bowlers for the way they bowled. On his comeback in T20Is, Smith says he has had good rest in that time and admits that it is always difficult to play all three formats. On batting with Warner, Smith says it is a joy to bat with him and it is fun to watch him hit the balls from the other end.
Earlier in the day, the Australian bowlers annihilated the Sri Lankan batting line up after the visitors elected to bat first. The only batter who showed some fight was Kusal Perera. All of the Australian bowlers except Kane Richardson bagged 2 wickets each and kept a very good economy rate.
As for the Sri Lankan bowlers, they did not have much to bowl at and that did not help their case. However, one could say that they should have taken some tips from their skipper on how to bowl consistent lines and lengths as Lasith Malinga was the only one who could come out of this match with some credit.
The innings started with a scare for Australia as they lost their skipper, Aaron Finch on a golden duck in the first over itself. However, there were no more hiccups as David Warner and Steven Smith took control of the innings and took Australia home. Both of them scored a half ton on the way to a comprehensive victory and the Kangaroos will be mightily pleased as they have dismantled the Sri Lankans in both the matches played so far.
Hand shakes all around and Australia have won this 3 match T20I series in the second match itself. Also, this is their first bilateral T20I series win at home in 5 years.

OUT! CAUGHT! Light at the end of the tunnel for Sri Lanka? It is not a delivery which deserves a wicket but Malinga won't care. Full ball down the leg side, Finch looks to flick it but fails to do so. The ball takes the faintest of edges and goes to Kusal Perera behind the stumps who takes a good catch. Finch departs for a golden duck. Is this the break the visitors needed?

Malinga starts with a very full ball on off, Warner jams it out back towards him.
We are back for the chase! Australian skipper, Aaron Finch walks out with David Warner to open the innings. Sri Lankan skipper, Lasith Malinga to start the proceedings with the ball. Surprisingly no slip in place.
So Australia have a paltry score of 118 to wrap up the series. Sri Lanka will have to bowl out of their skins and need some miracle if they are to stay alive in the series. Is there some magic in store for us or will the inevitable happen? Join us after the break to find out.
One of the leaders with the ball, Pat Cummins is now having a chat. Cummins says it has been a great start to the summer and he is happy with the bowling group as now they have a chance to win the series. Cummins tells he is confident that they can chase the target down as it looks like a good wicket and their batters are in good form. On being asked whether Warner is in the mood, Pat smiles and says he is always in the mood.
Brilliant bowling display from the Aussies. Barring Kane Richardson, everyone bagged 2 wickets each. Zampa and Stanlake were particularly very impressive as both of them went under 6 runs per over. Cummins and Agar were good too as even they had 2 wickets each.
After opting to bat, the visitors struggled to get going. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and hardly anyone got going. In another abysmal batting display it was just Kusal Perera who showed some fight. Apart from him it was once again a no-show.
Another poor effort from the Sri Lankans. Looks like the Aussies have once again won the game in the first innings itself. Top class effort from the hosts with the ball.

OUT! RUN OUT! Pat Cummins is the man and Sri Lanka have been bowled out for 117 runs! Full length ball on middle and off, Sandakan pushes it down the ground. Cummins tries to get his foot to the ball but misses and it hits the stumps at the non-striker's end. The batters try to sneak a run but Cummins is quick to react to it. He rushes back, collects the ball and pulls the stump out of the turf. The umpire wants to get it checked upstairs. Replays roll in and show that Sandakan was short when Cummins plucked the stump out.

Malinga had tried to come back but he put his bat outside the crease and then tried to drag it in. Too late.

NOT OUT! The ball is missing the stumps. Very good review by the skipper. Nicely bowled though from Zampa. OUT! Caught! The short ball does the trick. It is not the best of short balls but Stanlake is not complaining. It is just around the body on the leg side. Shanaka looks to pull but gets a feather on it. Carey behind the stumps goes up in appeal and the umpire slowly raises his finger. Sri Lanka's poor series continues. Second wicket for Stanlake. Not a bad replacement for Starc, is he?

Short on off and middle, it is too close to cut but he still goes for that stroke. The ball takes the inside edge and goes onto hit the stumps. Half the side back in the hut for Sri Lanka.

Gunathilaka though sends his partner back. The fielder from point, Ashton Turner has a flighted shy at the bowler's end. He misses. Agar covering up from mid on, collects the ball and scores a direct hit at the bowler's end with an under arm throw. Good partnership from the two Ashton's. Hello and welcome to the coverage of the second T20I clash between Australia and Sri Lanka. The visitors were decimated in the first T20I by a huge margin and go into this game as underdogs. It was the biggest win for Australia in terms of runs in T20Is and Sri Lanka's heaviest defeat. The Island nation were poor in all departments and would be hoping for a better performance in this match to get back into the series. Australia, on the other hand, were brilliant. David Warner was the star for them as he scored a brilliant ton, his first in T20Is. That knock would have given him some much-needed confidence after enduring a tough time in the Ashes. As for the team news, Billy Stanlake will get a chance to make his mark as he will be replacing Mitchell Starc for this match. So, will Sri Lanka spring a surprise and bounce back after that humiliating defeat or will the hosts roll them over and seal the series today itself? Join us in a while to find out!
