In Match 18 of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) on Friday, April 5, at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK), resuming their winning ways. Shivam Dube was the top scorer for SRH bowlers, who bowled brilliantly to restrict CSK to just 165/5 in their allowed 20 overs after forcing them to bat first.
As a result of openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head’s explosive starts (31 off 24) and half-centurys from Aiden Markram (50 off 36), SRH easily reached the goal in 18.1 overs. Consequently, the Pat Cummins-led team emerged victorious by six wickets and secured the fifth position on the points table after winning two of their last four games. CSK, on the other side, continued to hold third place after two victories in four games.
These are a few of the game’s highlights that we can review:
1. Shivam Dube keeps displaying his strength through vicious strokeplay.
With the score at 54/1 after 7.1 overs, the southpaw took the field after the CSK openers failed to capitalize on the powerplay. Without any delay, Dube got set and immediately took his anger out on the bowlers. With two fours and four sixes to help push the run rate above 8.5, the 30-year-old played a rapid-fire knock of 45 (24).
Muscled not once but TWICE 💥💥

2. Pat Cummins has withdrawn his appeal about his obstruction of Ravindra Jadeja’s path.
The skipper of SRH retracted the appeal against the CSK all-rounder for “obstructing the field” when he inadvertently got in the way of Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s toss in the second-to-last over of the first innings. When the on-field umpires saw Jadeja approach to block the throw, they considered heading upstairs; however, captain Cummins withheld the “spirit of the game” by withdrawing the appeal.
