Sandeep Warrier played in a few tournament games before the team signed him, and this season he has made three appearances. The pacer was not purchased at the auction, but for the 2022 Indian Premier League winners, it has ended up being a godsend. With an average of 15.20, the speedster has claimed five wickets in the three games he has begun this year.
The news that Mohammed Shami would not be playing in the Indian Premier League in IPL 2024 caused much worry. The bowler has been an important member of the Gujarat Titans team for the last two years, but he is not participating in the event due to an ankle injury. However, thus far this season, his replacement has been productive for the squad.
It is noteworthy that he has taken five wickets this season against the Delhi Capitals. The pacer took two wickets in the two sides’ previous meeting last week, which ended in a crushing loss for his club, to offer them some hope.

In the powerplay alone, the right-arm fast bowler proved his class by dismissing three opposing batsmen to put his team ahead in Delhi. He had an excellent match, taking three wickets in his three overs at the top while conceding just fifteen runs.
Shubman Gill, the captain, failed to give Warrier the ball during the final overs. The captain’s choice to bowl Sai Kishore in the penultimate over of the innings rather than him startled everyone. The spinner gave up 22 runs in that over; therefore, the side paid a heavy price for that call.
The rise of Sandeep Warrier, the domestic superstar
The bowler also came in to replace Jasprit Bumrah in the Mumbai Indians’ lineup for the 2023 season. But going into this season, it was concerning that he hadn’t played a single game for the team.
One of the reasons the Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians selected the bowler in their teams for the previous two seasons is that he has consistently performed well on the domestic circuit. In 2019, Warrier became the highest wicket-taker for Kerala in both the Ranji Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he began his cricket career. He eventually relocated to Tamil Nadu, where he has recently emerged as one of their most reliable players.
