During the Delhi Capitals’ (DC) 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) match against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, April 24, right-arm fast-medium bowler Rasikh Salam stood out as the team’s best bowler. Delhi, under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant, proved their resiliency in the face of difficulty as they prevailed by a narrow margin of four runs.
Delhi was given the opportunity to bat first, and courtesy of half-centuries from Axar Patel (66) and Rishabh Pant (88*), they reached a challenging goal of 225 runs. Even though the Titans made a great effort to chase the ball, they were only able to muster 220 runs in the last over. Salam, who was assigned to the Impact Player position, more than justified the moniker by having a significant effect on the game.

In his allotted four overs, the 24-year-old Jammu and Kashmiri showed off his skill by taking three significant wickets for 44 runs. One of his noteworthy victims was Sai Sudharshan, the GT Impact replacement, who scored 65 runs off of just 39 deliveries. Shahrukh Khan and Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore were his two remaining victims. He wasn’t just bowling, though; he also contributed by making an important catch off a delivery from Mukesh Kumar, dismissing David Miller, who had also scored fifty runs in GT’s pursuit.
Rasikh Salam participates in domestic cricket for Jammu and Kashmir.
In domestic cricket, Rasikh Salam now plays for Jammu and Kashmir. He became the third player from Jammu and Kashmir to be selected for the lucrative 2019 Indian Premier League when the Mumbai Indians bid him in during the player auction in December 2018.
As the youngest player to debut for the Mumbai-based team, he created history at the age of 17. But the same year, a mismatch in his birth certificate led the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to impose a two-year ban on him. After that, he participated in the 2022 IPL auction for the Kolkata Knight Riders, and he eventually signed with the Delhi Capitals.
