The second game of the current Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) pits the Delhi Capitals against the Punjab Kings. While the DC camp might rejoice that their star player Rishabh Pant is back from a good injury rehab, they will have to reconsider after their important pacer, Ishant Sharma, was hurt during the game. When he attempted to stop the ball at the boundary, the seasoned pacer injured his ankle.
With the assistance of physiotherapists, the 35-year-old had to leave the field right away and appeared to be in significant discomfort. Before getting hurt today, Sharma bowled two overs and appeared to be in good health. He briefly appeared and claimed Shikhar Dhawan, the captain of Punjab, for a price. The wicket reminded me of an old-school Ishant as he lifted the timber against a charging Dhawan. Even after dismissing the dangerous-looking Jonny Bairstow, he managed to arrange a run-out at the bowler’s end.
In the second half of the 2023 Indian Premier League, Ishant Sharma had a big effect for the Delhi Capitals.
He had only appeared in ten games within a season before the most recent edition, which was in 2014. During the auctions, DC nevertheless placed his trust in the greyhead of the Indian bowling hierarchy. When DC head coach Ricky Ponting stated that the bowler struggled early in the IPL but settled into a groove by the middle of the season, it was clear what he meant.

Despite numerous changes, the Delhi Capitals have lofty goals.
Throughout their lengthy tenure in the league, the Delhi Capitals are among the clubs that have yet to win an IPL trophy. When it comes to coaching staff and captaincy, they have witnessed multiple changes. Although they struggled towards the end of the 2023 season, they had some promise under David Warner’s leadership. After leading the team in 2021 and 2022, Rishabh was forced to relinquish the captaincy in 2023 due to an unfortunate mishap. The team has aimed for its first championship since Pant took over as captain in place of Shreyas Iyer.
