On Friday, April 5, the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take place. Both teams entered the game with the goal of winning again after their previous encounter ended in defeat. In Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, on a sluggish track, SRH chose to field first after winning the toss.
Surprisingly, the home team’s opening lineup consisted only of three foreign players. Travis Head will enter the game as an Impact Player during the second innings. Sadly, CSK was forced to launch an inexperienced bowling attack against a squad that had just posted the greatest score (277) in league history at the same location where over 500 runs were scored the previous week. Matheesha Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman are not among them.
Highlights from SRH vs. CSK’s second innings: First wicket: Rachin Ravindra, Aiden Markram, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Twelve (9)
The team’s first wicket was Rachin Ravindra, the aggressive opener for CSK. On the opening ball of the third over, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, a pacer for SRH, removed the New Zealand all-rounder. In the IPL 2024, Bhuvaneshwar took his first wicket as Ravindra went for 12 runs off nine balls.

Overs 0.1 to 6.0 (Mandatory: 48 runs, 1 wicket) is the first powerplay.
Against Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rahane had a difficult time getting going at first but gradually found his flow. The first powerplay ended beautifully when Ruturaj Gaikwad hit the last delivery for a six after Kumar’s third over had produced 15 runs.
First strategic timeout: Chennai Super Kings: 80/2 in 9.0 overs (Ajinkya Rahane (17 off 14), Shivam Dube (25 off 10)
Pat Cummins, the captain of SRH, started the spin attack by starting with Markande right after the powerplay. Having failed to clear the fielder at long on, Shahbaz Ahmed dismissed the opposing captain with the very first ball. Power hitter Shivam Dube came to the crease as a result, and the southpaw did not waste any time showcasing his might. The umpire called a calculated break when CSK scored 15 runs in the ninth over.
100 runs in 11.3 overs (69 balls) for Chennai Super Kings
When he went back on the attack, Cummins gave up just four runs. In the 12th over against T Natarajan, Dube more than made up for Jaydev Unadkat’s mediocre opening over. With back-to-back sixes, the CSK batsman helped his team reach the 100-run milestone in style.
Strategic Timeout 2: Shivam Dube (44 off 22) and Ajinkya Rahane (31 off 26) led the Chennai Super Kings to an 115-2 victory in 13 overs.
The CSK batsmen, Dube and Rahane, reached their 50-run partnership when Natarajan let up 15 runs in his second over. Unadkat’s 13th over yielded nine runs, and both sides separated for a calculated time out.
150 runs in 18 overs (108 balls) for the Chennai Super Kings
Slow bowls proved to be effective for SRH, as they secured a significant wicket of the threatening Shivam Dube (45 off 24 balls). By taking his 50th IPL wicket, the captain himself provided the breakthrough. Unadkat dismissed Rahane in the very next over after bringing in two new batsmen, Ravindra Jadeja and Daryl Mitchell, at the crease. The Kiwi hitter reached 152-4 when he smashed a boundary on the final ball of the 18th over.
Chennai Super Kings: 165/5 (20 overs) at the end of the first innings
After bowling a tight 19th over, Bhuvaneshwar received praise from Natarajan in the last over. After dismissing Mitchell with the third delivery, the left-arm bowler invited MS Dhoni to the crease. The Hyderabad audience greeted the former captain of CSK with great enthusiasm. After taking a single off the second ball, he reached 165 when Jadeja smashed a boundary off the last delivery. SRH limited the visitors to a poor total.
