Since he was named the new captain of the Mumbai Indians for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, taking over for the departed Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya has faced extreme criticism in recent months.
At the massive Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, when the Mumbai Indians played the Gujarat Titans, the crowd jeered Hardik. In that match, the five-time IPL champions lost by six runs. Mumbai faced Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 27 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. They lost by 31 runs, their second straight defeat in the IPL 2024.
As soon as Hardik appeared for an interview, a video of supporters hurling buckets, shoes, bottles, and other objects at a huge screen went viral on social media.

SRH reaches the greatest team total in IPL history, defeating MI through potent batting
Travis Head used the powerplay to put Mumbai Indians’ bowlers to the sword when they chose to bowl first. In just 24 balls, the Australian batsman, who was making his Sunrisers debut, hit 62 runs. Abhishek Sharma entered the game at number three and produced an incredible performance of 63 runs off just 23 balls after fellow opener Mayank Agarwal was unable to get going.

The two southpaws caused havoc initially, but Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram, two South African mainstays, came together and put up a fun 116 runs for the fourth wicket off 55 balls. While Markram was undefeated on 42 off 28 deliveries, the former was still not out at 80 off 34 balls. In their 20 overs, Sunrisers scored 277/3, surpassing Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s 263/5, the highest team total in the competition’s history.
Ishan Kishan gave Mumbai an early advantage by scoring 34 off of 13 balls as they pursued the unlikely target of 278. To keep the visitors in the hunt, Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir played spirited knocks. Hyderabad ultimately won by a comfortable 31 runs, despite Tilak Varma scoring the most with 64 off 34 balls.
