After Royal Challengers Bangalore beat the five-time champion Mumbai Indians in their first game of the Indian Premier League 2023, wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik gave an update on an injury scare that happened in the Bangalore camp during their first game. In the first match, English fast bowler Reece Topley hurt his shoulder while fielding and had to be taken off the field.
Topley tried hard to catch the ball by diving for it during the 8th over of Mumbai’s batting, but he didn’t do it perfectly and hit his shoulder when he landed. His shoulder looked like it got rolled, which hurt him a lot.
After that, the team physiotherapist and medics took Topley off the field. He was RCB’s first player to get hurt during the season.
As RCB won the game by a large margin, veteran wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik talked to Jio Cinema about Topley’s injury. He said that Topley’s shoulder did pop out, but it also went back in.
“It did pop out, but it went back in. I think he went for a scan during the game. He’s not in as much pain as we thought he would be. We’ll have to wait and see,” Dinesh Karthik said.
Virat Kohli-Faf duo hits on all cylinders, and RCB beats MI by a wide margin.
RCB’s IPL 2023 season got off to a good start when Faf du Plessis’s team beat the Mumbai Indians by eight wickets. After winning the toss, du Plessis put Mumbai Indians in to bat first, and the RCB bowlers quickly got rid of their top four batsmen in less than 50 runs. These four batsmen were Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Chris Green, and Suryakumar Yadav.
Tilak Verma, a young batsman with a lot of potential, took charge of the game and led MI to a respectable score. He hit an unbeaten 84 off 46 balls, with nine fours and four sixes. Nehal Wadhera, a new batsman, also hit a quick 21 off 13 balls, giving RCB a target of 172.
When it was RCB’s turn to bat, openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis destroyed the MI bowlers with ease. They put on a 148-run first-wicket partnership before du Plessis was bowled by Arshad Khan for 73, after hitting five fours and six sixes. Kohli, on the other hand, remained unbeaten at 82, hitting six fours and five sixes as RCB chased down the total in 16.
