The Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun will host the opening match of the Indian Veteran Premier League (IVPL) on February 23.
The Board of Veteran Cricket India (BVCI) and the Indian Power Cricket Academy (IPCA) will present the T20 event, which will give veteran cricket players over 40 the opportunity to compete.
Proven players from the game, including Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, Chris Gayle, Praveen Kumar, Yusuf Pathan, and Herschelle Gibbs, will compete in the IVPL to demonstrate their abilities and rekindle their love for the sport. Six teams will compete in the tournament: the Telangana Tigers, Mumbai Champions, Rajasthan Legends, Red Carpet Delhi, VVIP Uttar Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh Warriors. There will be four to five world-renowned players available for each of the six clubs participating in the IVPL.
Acting BVCI President and IVPL Chairman Praveen Tyagi has given an update on the competition and guaranteed Gayle, Sehwag, and Suresh Raina’s participation. He said that BVCI will experience a surge in enthusiasm at the next event.
“With the addition of the top players in the world for veteran cricket, like Chris Gayle, Virender Sehwag, and Suresh Raina, we hope to establish one of the best leagues in India after the IPL. This will work like magic for veteran cricketers who are living their love of playing with international cricketers from around the world, and it will inject veteran cricket in India with new life, according to Tyagi.
“We are excited for our first season, which will be a highly attended event with all live matches on Euro Sports, DD Sports and FANCODE too. There are many other exciting opportunities for the first season; just wait for the magic to unfold on February 23 to March 3,” he stated.
