Former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli is garnering attention for both his batting and some of the notorious events that took place in IPL 2023.
First off, the 34-year-old gave former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly death stares throughout the game against the Delhi Capitals. Ganguly is rumored to have had a hand in Kohli’s dismissal as the Indian team’s ODI skipper.
The issue wasn’t entirely over because, after the game, neither of them shook the other’s hand. The incident got worse when the players stopped following each other on Instagram. Not only that, but on May 1, when Lucknow hosted Bangalore in Lucknow, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir got into a verbal altercation.
When discussing all the events, former India head coach Ravi Shastri said that Kohli should exercise caution because players are frequently caught on camera after games. The renowned cricketers MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar, who never got involved in any such events after a match, were also used as examples by the speaker.
“After the series of events last week, someone like Kohli, someone like Dhoni—Dhoni understands, he’s a pro, that there is a camera on you and that’s because you guys deserve it after what you guys gave to the game—Dhoni knows that there is a camera on you.
The same camera that was on Sachin Tendulkar will be on you. Keep in mind that once the game is complete, the camera will follow you around until you enter the changing room. It feels like someone is flagging you off, so use caution. You will be OK if you keep that thought in mind: camera, and when the game is over. With that camera, you can score a lot of brownie points, Shastri told ESPNcricinfo.
The 34-year-old has received multiple fines throughout the current campaign, including the 100% match fee reduction in the match versus LSG.
