The International Cricket Council (ICC) will introduce seven new inductees into the renowned ICC Hall of Fame during an event in London on June 9, marking one of the most significant inductions since the inaugural list was announced in 2009.

The five men and two women inductees, who come from six different countries, will be introduced at the ‘A Day with the Legends’ event, which will be televised live by various ICC broadcast partner networks, allowing cricket fans all around the world to witness the historic occasion.

To honour their induction, the seven famous cricketers, who were chosen by the ICC Hall of Fame, senior executives, and members of the media, will be given with commemorative caps honouring their contributions to the game.

The major event, which begins at 16h30 British Standard Time, will also act as a warm-up for the ICC World Test Championship Final, which will be held at the Lord’s Cricket Ground from June 11 to 15.

Temba Bavuma and Pat Cummins, the captains, will offer their ideas ahead of the third championship final.

Jay Shah, ICC Chairman, stated, “Inducting legends into the ICC Hall of Fame is our way of honouring the game’s most extraordinary contributors.” This honour is reserved only for individuals whose accomplishments have left an everlasting impression on the sport, and each selection is made solely on merit.”

“I am convinced that fans around the world will be ecstatic to see this historic moment, as we prepare to induct seven new members onto cricket’s most illustrious honour roll. With the event serving as a prelude to the ICC World Test Championship Final, there is much to celebrate and anticipate.”

What is the ICC Hall of Fame?

The ICC Hall of Fame, which pays tribute to the extraordinary achievements of cricket legends who have shaped the sport’s rich and vibrant history, inducts players only five years after they played their last international match.

The ICC Hall of Fame was launched in January 2009 in association with the World Cricketers Association (WCA), which was then known as the Federation of International Cricketers Associations (FICA), as part of the ICC’s centenary year celebrations.

The initial intake of inductees were the 55 players named in the FICA Hall of Fame, which ran between 1999 and 2003, with new names added each year starting from 2009.

The last induction was carried out in October 2024, when England’s Alastair Cook, South Africa’s AB de Villiers, and Indian woman player Neetu David received their well-deserved recognition.
