Rishabh Pant, the wicketkeeper-batter for the Lucknow Super Giants, reprimanded a social media user for claiming that the team will bench Pant before the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). The LSG captain called the rumours “fake news” and called for more objective and trustworthy reporting.

A defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow officially eliminated LSG from the IPL 2025 playoffs. With just 135 runs in 11 innings this season, Pant’s batting performance has been lacklustre. During the super auction in Jeddah, LSG paid an incredible INR 27 crore for the left-handed batter, making it the most costly acquisition in the tournament’s history.

“I understand fake News gives more traction To content but let’s not built everything around it. Little sense and credible news will help more rather making fake news with agenda. Thanks have a good day.

Let’s be responsible and sensible what we put out on social media (sic)” wrote Rishabh Pant on X.
Top-order batsmen Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, and Nicholas Pooran gave the Lucknow-based team steady performances to start the IPL 2025 season as one of the favourites. But the middle-order did not support the top-order.

Young spinner Digvesh Rathi showed himself to be a superb player in the bowling department with a number of outstanding spells. It was challenging for LSG to restrain opponents and protect totals, though, because he received little assistance from the rest of the bowling team.

They presently have five wins, rank seventh in the standings, and are eliminated from the playoffs. On May 22 and May 27, respectively, LSG will play the Gujarat Titans (GT) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). In order to end their campaign on a positive note, the club will try to win both games.
