Mohammed Siraj wasn’t too thrilled with Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley’s antics, as the English openers spent an appropriate amount of time to get ready in order to avoid facing an over from Jasprit Bumrah ahead of Lunch on Day 5.

Chasing a win goal of 371 runs, Duckett and Crawley securely negotiated six overs in the final portions of Day 4, adding 21 runs to the total. On Day 5, the openers had to dig deep, particularly in the first hour, as the Indian pacers bowled valiantly but unsuccessfully.

Duckett blasted a flurry of boundaries following the first drinks break on Day 5, while Crawley was content to wait in the centre. They balanced caution and aggression, reducing the normal flamboyance associated with the ‘Bazball’ approach.

As the lunch break approached, the England openers realised the significance of keeping their wickets intact. They knew they’d already scored a lot of runs and were confident they’d make it through the interval.

Siraj delivered the 30th over of England’s second innings, and he was seen running back to his mark to deliver another over.

However, Crawley arrived late, just as the Hyderabad pacer was ready to bowl his penultimate delivery. The right-handed batter reported movement behind the sight screen. However, Harsha Bhogle, who was providing commentary, observed that there was no movement.

Siraj took a swing at Crawley, giving him a mouthful before shifting his focus to Duckett, who was watching Crawley’s adventures from the opposite end. The England two were successful in their intentions when the umpire tossed the bails, signifying lunch.

The Three Lions finished at 117/0 in 30 overs and need another 254 runs from 66 overs, if the weather holds good. Duckett raced to 64* off 89 balls, while Crawley remained unbeaten on 42 off 93 deliveries.
