Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) became the first team to qualify for the IPL 2025 Finals, where they will face Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3. As the club prepared for the summit clash, RCB’s director of cricket, Mo Bobat, discussed how the team advanced to the Playoffs and, eventually, the grand finals.
Bobat asserted that the supporters were putting pressure on the management to win a title for the franchise, which had escaped them for a while. Bobat remarked that no one needed to remind them that they had not won a title. The 41-year-old asserted that the management’s true goal and objective was to inspire fans by winning matches and, eventually, titles.
He felt that RCB’s turnaround in 2024 spurred fans to show even more support this time around.
“You don’t have to spend much time in Bengaluru before someone reminds you that you have a prize to win. For me, the ultimate goal and ambition is to inspire our followers. “We’re blessed with incredibly loyal fans, and I believe our number one task is to inspire them,” Mo Bobat remarked on RCB: Journey to the Finals.
DK really adds value as a coach: Mo Bobat
“How we do that is obviously winning games of cricket, but it’s the way we play and the things that we achieve along the way. Even last season, I’m pretty sure that the way we turned our season around was an inspiration to people,” Bobat added in the first Episode of ‘RCB’s Journey to the Finale’.
He then spoke about getting Dinesh Karthik onboard as the mentor and claimed the management was keen on adding him into the coaching staff after knowing his decision to retire. Bobat added that even before Karthik contemplated on retiring, he was of the opinion that the former RCB batter could bring great value as a coach.
“In DK‘s case, we were really keen to add him the moment that I was aware that he was contemplating retiring. And in fact, even before then, I thought he was somebody who would really add value as a coach,” he said further.
