In the post-match conference, captain Rajat Patidar spoke about Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) first title victory, saying it was a special one for him, Virat Kohli, and all of the supporters who stood by the team during its darkest moments. After defeating Punjab Kings in the first qualifier to easily advance to the grand finals, which took place on Tuesday, June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Patidar believed they may win the championship.

The manner his bowlers carried out their strategies pleased the Indore native. He thought that Krunal Pandya, a left-arm spinner, was a bowler who took wickets, particularly on the finals night. The RCB captain also thought that Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yash Dayal, Suyash Sharma, and Romario Shepherd performed admirably as a bowling unit.

“For me, Virat Kohli, and all of the supporters who have stood by us for years, it is truly wonderful.

They all deserve it, in my opinion. We believed that we could do this after Qualifier 1. This track was a little slow, thus I believe 190 was a good score. At the post-match presentation, he remarked, “It was amazing to observe how our bowlers carried out their strategies.

Naturally, Krunal Pandya is a bowler who takes wickets. Every time I’m under pressure, I look for KP. I really believed in him. All of the bowlers, including fast bowlers Bhuvi [Bhuvneshwar Kumar], Yash [Dayal], and [Josh] Hazlewood, bowled incredibly well during the season, as did Suyash [Sharma]. Additionally, Patidar said, “I think that was really special the way Romario [Shepherd] came in, the way he gave two-three overs, and that breakthrough [Shreyas Iyer’s wicket].”

Virat Kohli and fans deserve it more than anyone: Rajat Patidar

When asked about Virat, the RCB skipper claimed it was a great opportunity for him to lead the star player, which provided him with a lot of learning. Patidar felt Kohli and all fans deserved the title more than anyone. He claimed the management, support, and coaching staff deserved to win the title for their support to the players.

“It’s a great opportunity for me to captain him [Kohli], and it was a great learning for me. And as I said, I think he deserves it more than anyone else – Virat Kohli and all the fans. And after that, I think everyone who has supported, everyone, the management, the support staff, the coaching staff. I think the way they have supported every player, I think that was beautiful,” Patidar added.
